Castro Valley is an unincorporated community found in Alameda County. Named for former landowner Don Guillermo Castro, the community is now home to over 62,000 people, making it one of the largest unincorporated areas in the state. Famed real estate developer Joseph Eichler built many homes here in the mid-1900s, and the community has remained dotted with ranches and farmland since that time. Today, Castro Valley is home to one of the best school districts in the region and supports the arts at the Adobe Art Gallery and other establishments.

Community events and recreation are plentiful in Castro Valley and the surrounding areas. The local library was built in 2009 and hosts a variety of programs throughout the year. Home to one of the region’s top golf courses, both visitors and residents alike will enjoy playing a round at the beautiful Redwood Canyon Golf Course. Fishing, hiking, and boating are available at nearby Lake Chabot Regional Park, and with beautiful weather and sunny skies, outdoor activities are available throughout the year. With so much to do without the feel of a large urban area, Castro Valley is a great place to call home.
